A walkthrough of a maths problem with an online maths tutor

How it Works

I use an online collaborative whiteboard platform called BitPaper which enables myself and students to write simultaneously in real time. No software is required as BitPaper works direct from an internet browser, and it's free for students.

For audio I use Skype, which is also free. Each whiteboard has a unique and permanent URL that is automatically saved so that work is never lost.

It's easy to write smoothly on Bitpaper, especially if used with an electronic pen, so that writing is clear and legible online. Students can drag-and-drop classwork problems, pictures of recent tests or PDF documents directly onto the screen so that they can be worked on during the next tutorial session.

After each tutorial session, students can convert whiteboard pages to PDF files and save to their computer, laptop or tablet (or print off if preferred). This is perfect for revision and exam preparation.
